• Between 1959 and 1967, Illinois Department of
  Natural Resources (IDNR) brought in wild turkeys
  from Mississippi, Arkansas, and West Virginia.
  After raising a flock, IDNR biologists relocated
  these turkeys to other counties. Now there are
  approximately 150,000 wild turkey in Illinois.
