6
Positive Action NCLB
  • Title IV Safe and Drug-Free Schools and
    Communities
  • Positive Action works for the prevention of
violence and alcohol, tobacco, and drug use by
teaching positive actions that create a safe and
cooperative environment. This, in turn, increases
    attendance, and contributes to improving
    academics and attendance.

7
What Parents should know about the Positive
Action Curriculum
  • Positive Action is a nationally recognized,
    evidence-based program that improves academics,
behavior, and character. For over 25 years, more
than 13,000 families, schools, and community
organizations have benefited and continue to grow
    through Positive Action.

8
Positive Action
  • The Positive Action program is a leading,
common-sense program that reforms and revitalizes
schools to enable them to meet the needs of
    todays children.
  • The mission of the Positive Action program is to
    transform individuals, schools, families, and
communities by teaching and reinforcing positive
actions for a lifetime of health, happiness, and
    success.

9
Positive Action
  • Although each Positive Action Grade Kit averages
140 lessons, only 20 lessons per grade level are
required to see positive results and achieve
fidelity. In other words, the program can be
partially implemented and school will still see
    the promised results.
  • With the Positive Action program in place,
students become happier and more motivated,
teachers are free to focus on teaching instead of
classroom control, and principals become better
leaders. Fewer discipline referrals coincide with
higher test scores. Parents and community members
get more involved in education, and schools
    become more effective.

  • Improved academic achievement by up to 75
  • Reduced absenteeism by up to 45
