THE LIFE OF JESUS
ALTERNATIVELY - write an article about Jesus
life, giving an overview as if you are
interviewing one of the disciples. Born in
Bethlehem, lived in Nazareth up to the age of
around 30, was baptisied by John the BaptistHe
chose 12 disciples or followers whom he taught
the word of God. Amongst them were Simon Peter
who later was to deny that he knew Jesus when his
life was in danger and Judas Iscariot who
betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. During
the three years of his public work (preaching) he
did many remarkable things, gave sight to the
blind, restored the power of speech to the dumb,
healed lepers, and healed paralysed men, brought
three people back from the dead. He was able to
control nature, calmed a raging storm, walked
on water without sinking and even feed 5,000
people with five loaves and two fishes!!
HEROD ORDERS THE HEAD OF JOHN THE BAPTIST TO BE
BROUGHT TO HIM.
Not only did he do these things but he continued
to preach and spread the word of God to all who
came to hear him. Yet he argued with the
religious leaders of the times especially with
the Pharisees which made him very unpopular and
politically created difficulties. In Mark 21-12
Jesus says to a man, Your sins are forgiven. To
a Pharisee only GOD could forgive a person of
their sins and therefore - they took it to mean
that Jesus was claiming to be God himself which
was blasphemy and punishable by death. In the
last week of his life Jesus came to Jerusalem and
started by throwing the traders out of the
temple, he then prepared a last meal with his
disciples and told them that one of them was
going to betray him (Judas). After the meal they
went to the Garden of Gethsemane and here Jesus
was arrested.,

The Jewish authorities took him before the Roman
governor and asked for the death penalty. The
Governor (Pilate)couldnt see anything which he
had done wrong and sent him to King Herod who
then sent him back to Pntius Pilate again!
Eventually with the crowd howling for his blood
Pilate released a criminal called Barabbas and
turned Jesus over to the mob, after having
flogged him, to be crucified.
Take the Story / article up to Jesus being handed
over to the Mob. The next article you will do
will be about his death.

JESUS HIS TEACHINGS AND MIRACLES
Jesus taught the people mainly by using parables
- a parable is a story which was often like a
riddle and you had to think hard about it to
understand the meaning. Many of the parables he
told were about the character of God such as in
the parable of the Prodigal son when the father
still cares for his son when he returns home
after having spent all his money. Luke 15
11-32 Jesus taught people using images of the
everyday things around him to show what God is
like, how people can enter Gods kingdom and how
they should live in Gods world. Imagine you have
heard one of the stories from a fist hand witness
- describe what happened and what it meant. Look
at the Prodigal son
JESUS HEALING A BLIND MAN
The Sermon on the Mount covers much of Jesus
teaching. Read the full account in Matthew
chapter 5. Make up a story as if you were on the
mountainside and heard Jesus - make up headlines
such as
'Shock news - Meek will get the earth!'
He began to teach them , sayingBlessed are the
poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of
heaven.Blessed are those who mourn for they will
be comforted.Blessed are the meek for they will
inherit the earth.Blessed are those who hunger
and thirst for righteousness for they will be
filled.Blessed are the merciful, for they will
be shown mercy.Blessed are the pure in heart for
they will see God.Blessed are the peacemakers
for they will be called the sons of God.Blessed
are those who are persecuted because of
righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of
heaven.

man named Jarius, a ruler of the synagogue came
and fell at Jesus feet begging for help because
his 12 year old daughter was dying. Jesus went
to help but on the way people came and told him
she had died. He said just believe and shell be
Ok. When they got to the house everyone was
crying because she was dead. But Jesus took her
by the hand and told her to get up and she did!!.
