- Traditional View
- Providing the kind of support to help your boss
be as effective as he or she needs to be. - The act of building the kind of relationship with
your manager or managers that results in mutual
success. - Developing yourself as a professional in many
ways. Expanding your skills, the range of your
contacts, the level of your professionalism, all
elevate you in the mind of your boss, expand your
direct and indirect authority, and give you vital
leverage in managing that relationship
effectively. - Sometimes you see your boss as a "problem" boss.
"Managing Up" skills are essential for working
with your boss, "problem" or not. - "Managing Up" is often the missing link in your
management plan. - Developing a meaningful, task-related
