Identity

• Every word is something. It has an identity,
  just like you. For example, you may be Chinese,
  or male, or brown-eyed. That is what you are.

Noun

• Person, place, thing, idea
• 3 Types
• Common (city)
• Proper (Raleigh)
• Possessive (girls)

Pronoun

• Takes the place of a noun
• 6 Types
• Personal (I, you, he, she, it, us, them)
• Reflexive (-self, -selves)
• Relative (that, which, who, whom, whose)
• Interrogative (which? Whose? )
• Demonstrative (this, that, these, those)
• Indefinite (each, either, anybody, somebody)

Verb

• Shows action or helps to make a statement
• 3 types
• Action (she wrote me)
• Linking (Grammar is cool)
• Helping (We have been taking fun notes)

Adjective

• Tells which one? How many? What kind?
• Modifies a noun

Adverb

• Tells How? When? Where? To what extent?
• Often ends in ly, but not always
• Modifies
• Adjectives
• Verbs
• Other adverbs

Preposition

• Shows a relationship between a noun and another
  word in a sentence.

Conjunction

• Joins words or phrases
• 3 types
• Coordinating FANBOYS (for, and, nor, but, or,
  yet, so)
• Subordinating start a dependent clause (after,
  since, before, while, because, although, so that,
  if, when)
• Correlative not only/but also, neither/nor,
  either/or, both/and
