    your time on this part.

8
Test taking strategies
  • Dont spend too long on any one problem. You
have a total of 3 hours to complete this exam, so
you must budget your time wisely.
  • Skip and come back to problems you cant answer
easily. Sometimes another question will trigger
    your memory.
  • Be sure to answer EVERY question.

9
Part I Multiple-choice section
  • If you are experiencing difficulties solving a
    problem, try the following
  • Try to eliminate unreasonable choices first.
  • Use substitution to determine which answer works
    in the problem.
  • Use your calculator to test the choices to
    determine the correct one.
  • Make your own sketches/diagrams when one is not
    provided.

10
Part II, III, and IV
  • SHOW ALL WORK!!! A correct solution with no
appropriate work earns at most 1 point.
  • If you use trial and error, be sure to show at
least 3 separate trials for each possible answer,
even if you guess correctly after one or two
    tries.
  • Clearly identify and label answers. Be sure to
    include scales and axes labels.

11
Part II, III, and IV continued
  • Be conscious of units of measure example- if
feet and inches are in the same problem, convert
    to same units of measure.
  • Rounding should be done as the last step of
    the problem.
  • Make your own sketches/diagrams when one is not
    provided.
  • Make sure that your solution completely answers
    the question.

    and constructions.
  • Make sure every problem is answered.
