Title: The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree
1The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree
2Luke 136-9 6He also spoke this parable A
certain man had a fig tree planted in his
vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and
found none. 7Then he said to the keeper of his
vineyard, Look, for three years I have come
seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut
it down why does it use up the ground? 8But he
answered and said to him, Sir, let it alone this
year also, until I dig around it and fertilize
it. 9And if it bears fruit, well. But if not,
after that you can cut it down.
3The parable...
"The barren fig tree"
A man is disappointed because his tree doesn't
give any fruit..
4Fruits Worthy of Repentance
- That is what John had called for Matt.37-10
- They were then on the verge of being cut down
- Repentance is what God is Looking For
- Certain Characteristics of Repentance are the
FRUIT - Starts with godly sorrow 2 Cor.710-11
- Generates good, genuine evidences
5The basic points of the parable are clear...
1. The main lesson from verses 1-5 is Repent!
2. The parable is more clear because it is
calling us to repent NOW!
3. Anyone that does not have any fruit will not
remain!
6Time For Repentance Runs Out
- The Fruit of Repentance Will Never Appear Unless
there is Repentance - Repentance Must Be Fed and Nourished NOW
- God is Digging Around Your Heart Now
- God is Putting Nourishment Around Your Heart Now
- Tomorrow God Decides To Cut You Down
