- The Co-op Experience
- The Engineering Work
26LONG TERM MARKET TRENDWill I have a job after
years of school work?
In a few years, gt 20 of the mining work force
will retire.
Industry is preparing for this manpower shortfall
by actively training new talent. The industry
support is strong.
Companies visit UBC Mining Department frequently
via seminars and student nights.
27CO-OP WORK TERMSSo Many Jobs
- I worked at a Diamond Mine near Yellowknife
for my most recent co-op term. - The company is not shy on challenging their
students. I was given full work load that a
graduated EIT would have been given. As a
student, my typical work day consisted of half
field work and half office work.
28TRAVEL .. Adventurous?
- Through School/Work, I have
- Seen Aurora in
- Yellowknife
- Visited Montreal
- Worked in Tibet,
- next to Mt. Everest
