- Began in 1976 as small concerts held in various
homes, with one couple providing gourmet food. - Concerts grew in popularity and donations were
needed to cover musician and food expenses, so
the symphony took over the concerts in 1990.
4Sunday Sounds
- Unique series of 3 to 4 Chamber Music concerts
- Concerts are held on Sunday afternoons _at_ 330
- The Council is responsible for serving
refreshments
5Ticket Sales
- Symphony office is responsible for sales.
- Season tickets are available, or tickets may be
purchased at the door. - Ticket price includes admission and refreshments
- Ticket sales help to determine the budget for the
refreshments

7Purpose
- Sunday Sounds started to provide chamber music to
small, intimate audiences. - Provides a different feel than regular symphony
concerts (more intimate, different venues) - Showcase different types of music and different
musicians

9Responsibilities
- Concert date, time, site, theme, musicians, and
publicity is all handled by the Symphony office. - Set up, refreshments, and clean up are the
responsibility of the Council.
10Planning
- The Sunday Sounds chair begins planning for each
concert about 2 weeks in advance. - This involves touring facility, finalizing a
menu, and deciding on decorations. - Actual food and wine is purchased a few days
before the concert.

12Budget
- The Council donates 400 each year for food and
decorations. - The remaining money comes from ticket sales,
sponsorships and donations from patrons - The overall budget for refreshments comes from
the Symphony office and is about 500 per concert.
13Set Up
- Sunday Sounds Chair arrives early to begin
set-up.
14- Set up includes arranging tables, decorating
tables, arranging the food on platters, and
setting up the wine bar.
15Sunday Sounds committee
- Committee members volunteer to help at concerts.
- There can be 3-8 volunteers at each concert.
16- The Sunday Sounds Chairs husband gets the job
of serving the wine. - Wine is served before and after the concert
17- The food is served after the concert
- Refreshments are planned by the chair, they
usually include wine, heavy hors doeuvres, and
desserts
