Hot, dry, desert like weather in the summer
especially the further west you go in the
region. Longer summers and shorter winters. Does
not get extremely cold in the winter. Hardly any
snow. Much like the Southern Region except it is
dry instead of humid.

- Plains Oklahoma and Eastern Texas
More rivers and rainfall in this area. - Hills Western part of Texas and into New
Mexico
Millions of buffalo once
lived on these hills and high plains. - Plateaus and Mountains Northern Arizona and

Natural resources things found in nature that
we can use Texas is the leading
producer of oil in the United States. It is the
fourth leading producer of oil in the
world. Other plentiful resources natural gas,
coal, uranium
Jobs Ranching - raising animals to sell or
use for food. The southwest raises lots of sheep
and cattle.
Farming The southwest grows cotton (eastern
Texas),

Oklahoma has the highest Native American
population in the United States. Street names
and place names have Spanish names. Many Mexican
Americans live in this region. New Mexico and
Arizona are 3rd and 4th in the number of Native
Americans that live here. Food fajitas,
tortillas Clothes pancho, sombrero,
Colors turquoise, orange, red,
brown Buildings pueblo
