  long as they are after the noun.

• The appositives can help you sharpen the focus of
  the sentence.

USING APPOSITIVES TO FOCUS AND TO LINK SENTENCES

• If you have a choice of two sentences to reduce
  to an appositive, you can usually let the focus
  decide for you. Avignon is a walled city in
  southern France. Avignon was the home of the
  Pope in the fourteenth century.
• Although the most common position for an
  appositives is immediately after the noun that it
  defines, an appositive can also be placed at the
  beginning of a sentence.
• A man that had never baked a cake before in his
  life, Hines founded a multimillion-dollar food
  products company that names its line of premium
  cake mixes after him.
