2Q C O S S Indigenous Professional Support Unit
The Indigenous Professional Support Unit (IPSU)
is a program funded by the Department of
Education, Employment and Workplace Relations
(DEEWR) to deliver services under the Inclusion
and Professional Support Program and is a project
of the Queensland Council of Social Services
(QCOSS).
3Role of IPSU
- Provide high quality, flexible and innovative
professional development and support that is
targeted to meet the identified local needs of
eligible Indigenous child care services and their
staff. - Facilitate access to, and provide, professional
support, advice and training for managing bodies
of eligible Indigenous child care services. - Provide advice to PSC's (Professional Support
Coordinators) and ISA's (Inclusion Support
Agencies) that will assist CCB approved child
care services in becoming culturally appropriate
to meet the needs of Indigenous child care
workers and Indigenous children attending those
services.
4- WHO DOES IPSU PROVIDE SUPPORT TO?
- The Indigenous Professional Support Unit provides
professional development and support to over 80
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Childrens
services throughout Queensland that receive
funding from the Department of Education,
Employment and Workplace Relations. - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Childrens
services include - Long Daycare Centres
- Multifunctional Aboriginal Childrens Services
(MACS) - Playgroups and Enrichment Programs
- Outside School Hours Care

- Travel throughout the state to visit Aboriginal
and Torres Strait Islander Childrens Services to
provide - One-on-one advice and support
- Flexible In-service training options
- Workshops
- Produce Resources
- Library loan service
- Website
- 1800 support line
- Quarterly Newsletter
- Bi-monthly Information/Fact Sheets
- Host Regional forums and bi-annual Conference
- Participate in National IPSU Alliance
- Advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander Childrens services

Northern and Torres Strait Island Region.
Roslyn supports the South East, North Western
and Gulf Region
