Purpose
  • Books can change a persons life and expand
    childrens horizons.
  • Reinforce recycling concept.
  • Exercise two-way street, give and take
    relationship.
  • Targets remote and less fortunate schools in
    Taiwan.

Two Types of Book Shipments
  • Big Shipment to public schools and libraries
    with larger populations in remote areas.
  • Mixed Vegetable Noodle to remote elementary
    schools

Facts
As of July 2009 112 big shipments have been made
There are 30 to 50 boxes per shipment, or1000
to 2000 books per shipment. 160,000 books
have been distributed so far. 250 local
elementary schools and libraries have been
impacted. There are 85 American libraries who
donated books. 3 distribution centers in
Taiwan and 3 Collection centers in NJ/NYC 20
frequent volunteers.

Process Preparation
  • Filter, count, packing, and shipping documents
    for customs.

  • Packed books are delivered to Seaport Warehouse
    in Jersey City, NJ and loaded on Vessel to Taiwan

  • Books received by libraries in Taiwan
  • Donated to communities in mountainous, remote,
    seaside areas to help Aboriginal and Hakka
    villages with limited budgets.
  • Taiwanese libraries express appreciation by
    sending recognition letters and hosting English
    programs.

Monitoring Systems
  • Unique!! You know exactly where your books and
    money has gone to.
  • NATWAs worldwide 1200 members are encouraged to
    visit and randomly check the donated books.

    libraries and community for their support to this
    recycling program.

    life and culture.

    Taiwanese Culture.

NATWA sponsored a Window Display in Madison
