• Scope
• Allow electrical contractors to apply and pay for
  electrical permits on-line
• Provide the hardware, software, knowledge
  foundation upon which on-line services can be
  built for all permits inspections
• Value
• Allows the customer to save time effort in the
  process of acquiring an electrical permit.
• Allows the City to save time effort in the
  process of entering and electrical permit.

• Background
• Electrical Section was already using Amanda to
  store and track data pertaining to electrical
  permits
• Evaluated and modified the existing Amanda system
  to match the expectations for an online
  application
• The look and feel of the application was
  developed in-house
• CSDC developed the online application using its
  API to create custom pages to match required
  design
• The application was tested by the business unit,
  as well as by outside electrical contractors

• Getting Started
• PIN numbers were sent to all electrical
  contractors who have done business at the City of
  Surrey so they could enrol on-line.
• New electrical contractors must come to the City
  Hall Building Division front counter with
  documentation of their status as a registered
  Electrical Contractor, and picture ID such as a
  Driver's License.

• Future
• Once permits have reached the issued status, the
  printed permit will be mailed to the contractor.
  In the future permits will be emailed but the
  business and business process is not quite ready
  at this time.
• In the process of cloning for on-line Erosion
  Sediment Control Permits
• Will continue with other permits and inspections

• To date has produced online permit sales of
  137,000

• Business unit - cant believe how worry-free the
  application is for them
• Electrical contractors thrilled with amount of
  time and gas saved by not having to repeatedly
  drive to City Hall to apply for permits.
