1
  • Dr. Perwez Kalim, Professor of Mech. Engineering
  • High School to College, what it means?
  • My role
  • Role Model, Mentor
  • A Facilitator, Helper, Confidant, a Friend
  • Advisor/advisee relationship is very important
  • Resources Available?
  • During Advising Session
  • CHECK Math requirements
  • Must retake Math placement if not placed out/Math
100 May jeopardize your four year graduation plan
  • University Calendar
  • Pick a time slot for advising session for today

2
  • Is engineering major good for you?
  • Math requirements are very important and
    stringent
  • Are you declared or undeclared. Try to declare as
    soon as possible
  • What are your strengths and weaknesses in order
    to achieve this education
  • Is it party time?
  • If you like to change your major now, Say so. You
will get a different schedule of courses, go to
    R-211 Conyngham Hall
  • You can change classes on a drop/add form during
    advising

3
  • If you are not placed out or you have not taken
the Math Placement test at all, you must retake
the test which is scheduled for Monday 130-230
and 230 330 in SLC 409. you must sign up
today on the sign up sheet posted on door of SLC
    409. you must have your login username and
    password.
  • Same applies to Chem test. If you have not taken
then go to Henry student center computer lab and
take the test there during an open time in your
    schedule during orientation.
  • If you are not placed out of these tests you will
be scheduled to take remedial Mathematics 100 and
Chem 095. Note that you will not be awarded any
credits towards your graduation for these
courses. Therefore, they are simply waste of time
    and jeopardize your graduation plans.
  • For Chem there is no choice other than taking a
remedial course during summer somewhere else. The
remedial Math course however, is offered during
Session II this summer beginning on July 14.
