• Several drafts, none of which satisfied the
  industry
• Now to be more of a textbook on Chipseal
  Surfacings in New Zealand
• Plus a Means of Compliance

• Purpose
• To produce a textbook on the topic of Chipseal
  Surfacings in New Zealand, which captures
  current knowledge and views and is supported by
  relevant research.

Objectives

• A textbook that
• (a) Presents many peoples views
• (b) Includes up-to-date knowledge, research
• (c) Promotes a feeling of ownership by the
  industry, and a desire to contribute
  (d) Documents typical methods for achieving
  quality chipseals
• (e) Is suitable for use as a resource for
  students and new entrants
• (f) Can be reviewed and revised every 2 to 5
  years.
