Whats in it for the electricity companies?

• Electricity suppliers obliged to supply 10 of
  electricity from renewables (2010)
• Must demonstrate by holding Renewables Obligation
  Certificates (ROCs)...

• Need to be a customer
• Electricity supplier will pay for
• all generated electricity

• any imported electricity
• NOT based on net imports/exports

• No need to be a customer
• Electricity supplier will pay for
• Net export of electricity
• ROCs and other benefits
• You will pay for
• Net imports of electricity

• 9 p/kWh for all generated electricity (equivalent
  to 45 per ROC double ROCs for small
  generators)
• 8.5 p/kWh for net exports
• 14 p/kWh for net imports (usual tariffs)
• 15 p/day standing charge

• Need an export meter (100)

• Over 50kW
• Power Purchasing Agreements
• ½-hour metering
• Supplier will pay
• 45 per ROC
• Unit price depends on time of day, etc.

On-line Auctions

• Non-fossil Purchasing Agency
• ROC auctions every 3 months
• Renewable electricity auctions every 6 months
• Requires registration and an estimate of your
  generation capabilities
• NFPA facilitate a Power Purchase Agreement with
  the successful bidder
• You get paid retrospectively for what you
  generate and supply into the grid
