The Quartering Act (1765)

• This act required colonists to provide living
  quarters for British soldiers as well as food,
  drink, or other supplies that they need.
• This was designed to encourage the colonist to
  share the cost of maintaining British protection
  over the colonists.

How does the Quartering Act (1765) lead to
problems (and eventually revolution)?

• Colonials believed that the soldiers were not
  really stationed in the Americas to protect them.
• Instead the soldiers were really there to
  supervise them look for colonials trying to
  smuggle goods that they were supposed to trade
  with England only.
