Proscenium

• The stage is usually rectangular.
• It may or may not have an apron attached.
• Gene Pike Middle School has a proscenium stage.

Thrust

• This type of stage has an extended part that
  thrusts out into where the audience is located.
• It can be in the middle, or to either side.
• It can be angled.
• A beauty pageant runway is an example of a thrust
  stage.

Arena

• The arena stage is positioned where the actors
  are in a center area.
• The audience is located around the actors.
• Dallas Reunion Arena is an example of an area
  stage, as well as Casa Manana in Fort Worth.

Environmental

• This type of stage is exactly what is says it is.
  If the stage is to be a hospital, it will be a
  hospital, an office will be an office.
• The audience is located at an elevated level.
• The audience usually looks downward to see the
  performers.
• Saturday Night Live uses an environmental stage.
