My Pocket Phone

• Its a wireless telephony application based on a
  pocket PC
• Based on audio communications with every
  telephone sets (Digital and Ip Phone thru Ip PBX)
  (IP Gateway)
• Technology used
• Wifi access from a pocket PC (HP 6340 for
  example)
• Wifi connection to the Ip Pbx (small ip Pbx from
  Alcatel)
• Old generation terminal Legacy digital terminal
  (UA set)
• New generation terminal Ip Touch (Ip Telephone
  Set)
•  
• Ip Gateway (Small ip pbx OXO)

• The demo consists in initiating a connection
  between one or two Telephone Set (Digital and IP
  Set).
•  
• Use different telephone applications available in
  the stack downloaded in the Pocket PC and
  evaluate de quality of the communication.
•  
• Algorithm available at the moment is G.711
  without Echo canceller which is currently under
  development with short length (4/8 ms), when it
  is needed.
•  
• It is planned to support also low bit rate coding
  as G729.

• Measurement issue
• Measurement issue to be solved
•         Acoustic problems (when designing the
  service, attention must be paid on the locations
  of the microphone and the loudspeaker on the
  pocket PC when headset is not used).
• Location of micro and loudspeaker on the pocket
  PC are not necessary similar to those of a
  telephone set, so do we have to define new
  measurement positioning?
•         Radio transmission Wifi (and/or
  Bluetooth) need to define which impairment
  associated to wifi must be considered?
•         The combination of wifi and Bluetooth
  technologies may introduce other kind of
  impairments which could be taken into account.

• Electrical access what kind of mesurement could
  be done from the electrical access. (in place of
  headset access).
• Electrical caracteristics must be defined before
  connecting via an adapter on Objective
  measurement tool from vendors.
• Distant side
• Need to have a reference interface.
