8
Research Interests
  • Alison Mackey's research interests focus on
    second language acquisition, specifically the
effects of input interaction and feedback, and
the role of attention and task-based learning in
second language development. She is also
    interested in second language research
    methodologies.

9
Current Research Summary
  • As of Summer, 2003, her active research projects
    included
  • a) An ongoing series of experimental
investigations into the relationship between L2
learners' noticing of interactional feedback and
    their L2 developmental processes.
  • b) Writing up the findings of an empirical study
of the relationship between working memory
    capacity, linguistic output and
    interaction-driven development (The research was
presented at the AAAL 2002 conference) and the
paper will be co-authored with 3 Georgetown
    graduate students.
  • c)  Completing a textbook on research methodology
in second language acquisition (with Susan M.
Gass) to be published by Lawrence Erlbaum
    Associates.
  • d) Writing up the results of a study of feedback
    in the L2 classroom context.
  • e)  A longitudinal series of case studies of the
