What is RPM?
What is RPM Remote Print Manager (RPM)?

• RPM is the only complete LPD print server
  software designed specifically for Windows
  platforms.

2. RPM uses Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to
receive print jobs from local or remote locations.
3. RPM allows users to customize and control the
processing and output of print jobs.
4. RPM can accept print data from AS/400s,
mainframes, UNIX, Linux, and other Windows
systems.

• Queue Management is an integral part of RPM.
  Understanding queue types and managing queues is
  one of the many features that set RPM apart from
  other LPD servers, hardware or software.
• RPM offers three types of print queues
• Text Queue
• Raw Queue
• Filter Queue

RPM Queue Management Options
The TEXT QUEUE receives print data from a host
system and then modifies the data to print to any
Windows print device. The TEXT QUEUE can modify
lines or characters per inch, change fonts,
suppress banner pages, inset characters, and even
add printer finishing functions.
The RAW QUEUE receives print jobs from the host
system and sends the data directly to the
printer. The RAW QUEUE includes enhanced
features and translation options such as
converting EBCBIC, SCS and ASA to ASCII.
The FILTER QUEUE receives print data from a host
system then saves or writes the files to disk.
The FILTER QUEUE can integrate print data with
third party software for user customization.

The RPM TEXT Queue allows RPM to adapt text to
any Windows printer using the print driver. RPM
handles many text formats intelligently, while
providing a simple interface. The formatting
options found in the TEXT Queue is a key reason
network administrators and other IT professionals
make the switch from their existing print server
to RPM.

fancy print drivers page finishing options to
the job. This includes duplexing, stapling, hole
punching, water marks, n-Up, and much more.

RPM Raw Queue Overview
RPM can send data directly to the printer using
pass-through printing. Few software print servers
can accomplish this without any modification of
the data.  The RAW queue acts as if the printer
is locally attached to the mainframe. Enhanced
features and translations such as EBCDIC, SCS and
ASA to ASCII can be performed if necessary.

RPM Filter Queue Overview
Filter processing in RPM provides the means to
integrate print data with third party software
and custom processing, while continuing to use
the established printing services in your
business system. Simply stated, the goal is to
save the print job on disk and if needed, open
the file in another software application.

Various naming conventions can be used to name
your files. Banner, Class, Host, Job, Source
file, Title, User supplied from the client
side. Date/Time, Queue, Sequence number are
supplied by RPM.

file to be saved. The file can be saved to your
hard drive or a network storage location.
