Goals for this Workshop

• Further discussion on unique challenges of
  modeling
• Information Operations (IO), in particular
• human behavioral and command decision process
  modeling
• taxonomies, lexicons, metrics, and metric
  collection processes
• causal relationships between IO techniques and
  effects
• Intelligence collection, processing and
  dissemination, in particular
• the relationship of the output of the overall
  intelligence cycle to its impact upon the
  warfighter
• issues related to the proper representation of
  "attributes" which can be sensed by ISR sensors
• authoritative descriptions of US ISR capabilities
  and opposing force systems, processes and
  behaviors.

Key Points

• Simulation of Information Operations in analytic
  and HITL tools poses one of the next Grand
  Challenges for the MS community
• Work is progressing to define/refine
  requirements, foster research and develop tools
  (all at the same time !!)
• As noted 6 months ago, the glue to bring this
  community together (ontology, lexicon, taxonomy,
  ornithology, metrics) is still lacking (although
  there are various organizations doing pieces of
  this on their own)

Key Point 1 A Grand Challenge

• Simulation of Information Operations (IO) in
  analytic and HITL tools poses one of the next
  Grand Challenges for the MS community
  (00F-SIW-001)
• Recommendation
• As Human Behavioral Modeling is critical to
  modeling IO, need a closer coupling of the IO-ISR
  BEH forums.
• Focus is from Command Decision Processes all the
  way down to the individual, and including the
  general population
• Explicitly model the flow of information and the
  associated communications

Key Point 2 Progress is being made

• Work is progressing to define/refine
  requirements, foster research and develop tools
  (all at the same time !!) (All IO-ISR papers)
• Recommendation
• Continue to invite IO SMEs to speak at the SIW
• Continue to analyze presentations for areas of
  commonality
• This is an area ripe for standards development
  (i.e., IO Reference FOM ??)

Key Point 3 The Glue is lacking

• As noted 6 months ago, the glue to bring this
  community together (ontology, lexicon, taxonomy,
  ornithology, metrics) is still lacking (although
  there are various organizations doing pieces of
  this on their own) (00F-SIW-001)
• Recommendation
• Include these topics in the next CFP
• Seek ASD/C3I IS NCW Metrics Working Group
  participation in next SIW
