12Oogenesis Defining the Oocyte within the Germarium
Adapted from Navarro et al, 2001, Buskirk and
Schupbach, 1999, van Eeden and St. johston, 1999

15Oogenesis Patterning the Oocyte
Dorsal/Ventral identity Nucleus moves to an
anterior corner uses microtubules,
Gurken to move Wherever it sits, that defines
the dorsal side of the oocyte Gurken is
associated with nucleus (green)
Adapted from Reichman and Ephrussi, 2001 Buskirk
and Schupbach, 1999
16Oogenesis Patterning the Oocyte
Anterior/Posterior identity Bicoid and Oskar
are dumped into the oocyte through ring canals
of nurse cells. They localize to different parts
of the oocyte and define the A/P axis.
We'll talk more about this on Thursday
Adapted from Reichman and Ephrussi, 2001 Buskirk
and Schupbach, 1999
