The Roman empire, one of the greatest military
forces of the world relative to its time period,
conquered a great portion of the ancient world
with their superior weapons and tactics.

The Roman helmet, usually made of bronze or
steel, served as protection for the head, back of
the neck, and cheeks.

The Lorica Segmenta (armor)
The lorica segmenta, or armor, consisted on many
plates of metal layered on top of the one before
it. It provided protection for the torso and
shoulders.

Scutum(shield)
The scutum was a long shield which protected not
only the front, but its curved shape protects the
flanks. The scutum also doubled as a stretcher.

The Gladius was a short sword for thrusting
instead of slicing. It was more efficient because
it was lighter than a long sword and didnt take
as much energy to wield. It ranged from 18-24
long.

The roman spear was not used to actually harm
someone, but was used to shatter your enemies
shield, thus causing them to be more vulnerable
to death

The scorpio resembled a middle ages crossbow,
only about 10 times the size. It was used to fire
large arrows

The Ballista was used to launch rocks over the
walls of a city.

spring to launch ammunition at the enemy
