- The Second World War saw a shift in expectations
from Black Americans. - After the selective service act in 1940
there was no discrimination in training the
forces so they fought against the racist Hitler
abroad and saw how, in Europe segregation did not
exist. - Expectations grew and the membership of the
NAACP rose to 450,000.
