- Put quotes around a phrase two words or more
to improve results - Limits returns to exact phrase

- This technique adds AND to the two phrases
- Limits returned results to the exact phrases

- Look for two or more words by using AND
- Example nurses" AND Ontario" will match
documents that have both the word nurses and the
word Ontario anywhere within. - Look for synonyms by using OR.
- Example nurses" OR Ontario" will match
documents that contain the words nurses or
Ontario, but not necessarily both. - Look for words that are close to each other by
using NEAR. - Example registered nurses" NEAR Ontario" will
match documents where the word nurses is within
50 words of the word Ontario. - Look for words that begin with the same letters
by using a single asterisk. - Example nurses will match nurse, nurses, nursing

- Keep searches simple one to three words
- Enclose phrases in quotation marks nursing home
