Title: Your Reasonable Service
1Your Reasonable Service
- What can you do for your congregation?
2A Famous Quote for our Consideration
- ask not what your country can do for you - ask
what you can do for your country John F.
Kennedy
- John F. Kennedy knew that this country that we
live in would not be great without the effort of
the American people to make it so.
3Another Famous Quote for our Consideration
- I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the
mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a
living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God,
which is your reasonable service. The apostle
Paul (Romans 121 KJVR)
- The apostle Paul knew that we must make a great
effort in our service to the Lord. Can you look
at the church today and see the need for us to
give a great effort?
4This Lesson is About
- Defining your responsibility
- Fellowship
- Worship
- Life
- Family
- Individual Leadership
- Self Improvement
5Responsibility In Its Simplest Form
- Doing what you know needs to be done
- Ecc 910 KJV Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do,
do it with thy might for there is no work, nor
device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave,
whither thou goest. - Colossians 323 KJV And whatsoever ye do, do it
heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men - James 417 KJV Therefore to him that knoweth to
do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. - Being irresponsible is a sin against yourself,
those who need your help and God.
6Individual Leadership
- Qualities of Individual Leadership
- Taking command of your own life
- Taking the initiative to do things
- Seeing things through to the end
- Able to make decisions and live by them
- Willingness to hold yourself accountable
- The vision to see what need to be done
- Individual leadership is not about
- Having the ability to lead others
- Serving ourselves
7Before we go any further
- This lesson is designed to show the need for us
to do things for the benefit of others (our
responsibilities). - Its not about how the congregation can benefit
you. Its about how the things you can do
benefit the congregation.
8Fellowship
Strong fellowship is a core factor of the success
of a congregation
- This congregation cannot be strong without a
strong fellowship. - Your effort is required to develop good
fellowship. - Its not about what fellowship can do for you.
It is about what you can do to promote fellowship.
9Fellowship - Openness in Communication
- The ability to communicate openly and sincerely
is key to success in any relationship. - Many times people dont hear things from those
they need to hear them from but from those they
dont.
- Our Responsibility
- James 516 KJV Confess your faults one to
another, and pray one for another, that ye may be
healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a
righteous man availeth much. - Hebrews 1024 KJV And let us consider one
another to provoke unto love and to good works - How open are we with one another?
10Fellowship - Togetherness
- Being together
- 1 Thessalonians 511 KJV Wherefore comfort
yourselves together, and edify one another, even
as also ye do. - Acts 244-47 KJV And all that believed were
together, and had all things common (45) And
sold their possessions and goods, and parted them
to all men, as every man had need. (46) And
they, continuing daily with one accord in the
temple, and breaking bread from house to house,
did eat their meat with gladness and singleness
of heart, (47) Praising God, and having favor
with all the people. And the Lord added to the
church daily such as should be saved. - Questions
- How much time do we spend with one another?
- How well do we know each other?
- What can you do to promote togetherness?
11Fellowship Prefer One Another
- What attitude should I have toward others?
- Romans 1210 KJVR Be kindly affectioned one to
another with brotherly love in honor preferring
one another - Philippians 23-5 KJV Let nothing be done
through strife or vainglory but in lowliness of
mind let each esteem other better than
themselves. (4) Look not every man on his own
things, but every man also on the things of
others. (5) Let this mind be in you, which was
also in Christ Jesus - Questions
- How concerned are we with others compared to
ourselves? - Are we willing to make sacrifices in our lives
for the betterment of others? - What things can you do that will help others?
12Responsibilities in Fellowship
- Take the initiative Dont wait for others to
take the first step in building strong
fellowship. - Dont get your feelings hurt when something
doesnt go your way. Your brothers and sisters
dont intentionally do things to upset you. - Be open with one another. If we approach one
another in love, there is no reason to clam up. - If someone has done something upsetting to you,
take it up with the person instead of complaining
to others about it.
13Responsibilities in Worship
The worship service is a key indicator of how the
congregation is doing.
- An edifying worship requires the effort of each
person - A worship service that is pleasing to God
requires the effort of each person - It not about what the worship service can do for
you. Its about about what you can do for the
worship service.
14Responsibilities in Worship
- Worship in Spirit and Truth
- John 424 KJV God is a Spirit and they that
worship him must worship him in spirit and in
truth. - 1 Corinthians 1415 KJV What is it then? I will
pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the
understanding also I will sing with the spirit,
and I will sing with the understanding also. - 1 Corinthians 1440 KJV Let all things be done
decently and in order. - Whether leading or not, we have the
responsibility to - Be Prepared
- Be Focused
- Be in the right frame of mind
15Responsibilities in Worship
- Be Here
- Hebrews 1024-26 KJV And let us consider one
another to provoke unto love and to good works
(25) Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves
together, as the manner of some is but exhorting
one another and so much the more, as ye see the
day approaching. - Psalms 1221 KJV I was glad when they said unto
me, Let us go into the house of the LORD. - Why?
- You should be here to provoke others to good
works. - We need to be here and act like we enjoy being
here to encourage each other.
16Responsibilities in Worship
- Make a commitment to be here!
- Be prepared, especially if you have an assigned
duty. - Be spirited in your worship. Doing so will have
a positive impact on others as well as yourself.
Give it your all! - Dont stay up late the night before Sunday

- Dont be afraid to make suggestions that will
help the worship service.

brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the
feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward
all men. - Seeing peoples needs are met

before God and the Father is this, To visit the
fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to
keep himself unspotted from the world. - Teaching our children

he should go and when he is old, he will not
depart from it.
18ConclusionLet each one of us give thought to
what we can do to work for the good of the
congregation- In Fellowship- In Worship- In
Life
- Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then
cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up
your eyes, and look on the fields for they are
white already to harvest.(John 435 KJV)
