Title: Faithfulness

1
Faithfulness
  • A person who lives his life by faith will live a
    life of faithfulness to God

For we walk by faith, not by sight.
2 Corinthians 57
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control.
Against such there is no law. (Galatians 522-23)

2
A Person Who Livesby Faith
  • Is Faithful to God
  • Is dependable and reliable towards the things of
    God
  • He is trustworthy to the cause of Christ
  • He can be counted on to obey the word of God
  • On the other hand, unfaithfulness in life shows a
    lack of faith in God

3
Faithfulness
  • Faithfulness in the Little Things
  • Luke 1610 (ex MaterialLittle/SpiritualGreat)

4
Luke 1610
  • He who is faithful in what is
least is faithful also in much and
he who is unjust in what is least
    is unjust also in much.
  • (11) Therefore if you have not been faithful in
the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your
    trust the true riches?

5
Faithfulness
  • Faithfulness in the Little Things
  • Luke 1610 (ex MaterialLittle/SpiritualGreat)
  • Faithful Servants
  • Matthew 2445-47 48-51 (Faithfulness is a matter
    of loyalty to Christ!)

6
Matthew 2445-47
  • Who then is a faithful and
    wise servant, whom his master
made ruler over his household, to give them food
in due season? 46 Blessed is that servant whom
his master, when he comes, will find so doing. 47
Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him
    ruler over all his goods.
  • Faithful servant rewarded for his loyalty with
    greater honor and responsibility

7
Matthew 2448-51
  • But if that evil servant says in
his heart, My master is delaying
his coming, 49 and begins to beat
his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with
the drunkards, 50 the master of that servant will
come on a day when he is not looking for him and
at an hour that he is not aware of, 51 and will
cut him in two and appoint him his portion with
the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and
    gnashing of teeth.
  • Unfaithful servant
    condemned

  • Matthew 2445-47 48-51 (Faithfulness is a matter

  • Faithfulness in Families
  • 1 Pet. 31-2 5-7 (not abuse, abandonment,
    infidelity)

9
1 Peter 31-2
  • Wives, likewise, be submissive
to your own husbands, that even
if some do not obey the word, they,
without a word, may be won by the conduct of
their wives, 2 when they observe your chaste
    conduct accompanied by fear.
  • Faithfulness is seen in the wife doing what God
requires of her in respect to her husband.

10
1 Peter 35-7
  • For in this manner, in former times,
the holy women who trusted in God
    also adorned themselves,
being submissive to their own husbands, 6 as
Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose
daughters you are if you do good and are not
afraid with any terror. 7 Husbands, likewise,
dwell with them with understanding, giving honor
to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as
being heirs together of the grace of life, that
your prayers may not be hindered.
  • Both wives and husbands have specific duties
required by God to be faithful.

  • Faithfulness at Work
  • Titus 29-10 (not insubordination, stealing, etc.)

12
Titus 29-10
  • Exhort bondservants to be
obedient to their own masters, to
be well pleasing in all things, not
answering back, 10 not pilfering, but showing all
good fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine
of God our Savior in all things.

    etc.)
  • Faithfulness when Tempted to Sin
  • 1 Pet. 58-9 1 Jn. 54 (needed to resist
    temptations)

14
1 Peter 58-9
  • Be sober, be vigilant because
    your adversary the devil walks
about like a roaring lion, seeking whom
he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the
faith, knowing that the same sufferings are
experienced by your brotherhood in the world.

15
1 John 54
  • For whatever is born of God
overcomes the world. And this is
the victory that has overcome the
    world--our faith.
  • If we are faithful, we overcome the world. We
are not overtaken by it, but victorious over it.
The proof of our faith is our faithfulness!

16
Conclusion
  • Being faithful calls for all our energy to be
    directed toward heaven

If then you were raised with Christ, seek
those things which are above, where Christ is,
sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind
on things above, not on things on the earth. 3
For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ
in God.
Colossians 31-3
17
Conclusion
  • To err is humanto forgive, Divine.

Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your
Father in heaven is perfect.
(Matthew 548)
