Building
2Lecture Theatre E is down the small flight of
stairs from the Houldsworth Foyer
Seating for up to 40 people
3The main overhead lighting is connected to a
movement sensor so will come on automatically
(and switch off automatically too!)
All the main Lecture Theatres in the Houldsworth
Building now have a similar set-up with the same
lectern and control console.
An OHP is available
The room is relatively small so the microphone
will not be needed (unless you specifically want
to use it)
This whiteboard can be slid upwards for use
pens erasure will be on the lectern.
4Most people will usually stick to PowerPoint, but
for displaying plans/drawings there is a display
board on the left wall as you enter (so sideways
on to your audience)
Unless specifically requested, a paper flip
chart will not be available (as there is a large
whiteboard)
5- 3. The presentation system is controlled by
this small touch screen. - Use this touch screen for
- dimming the room lights
- switching to a laptop
1. The lecterns etc within the building have been
upgraded and standardised (so the next door
lecture theatres can be used for a quick run
through too).
2. Need to have Leeds Uni login to access the
Room PC (by usual mouse keyboard). On the day
will keep to just one login so please do not
log the system out.
6For more advanced audio/visual a printed
instruction manual is left on the lectern

7The Room PC is fitted into the side of the
lectern directly below the keyboard
There is a DVD/CD reader available.
For your presentation it is recommended you use
PowerPoint and bring it along on a memory stick
Its always good to have a back-up! If its lt10MB
suggest you email your presentation to your own
Leeds email address beforehand (as you can easily
access WebMail from the Room PC). gt10MB use a
CD/DVD or another memory stick.
8To save time on the day and to make sure you are
happy all is working OK suggest you transfer
your presentation to the Room PCs desktop either
before the start or at one of the two
breaksplease remember youre on show as soon
as you go up to the lectern (i.e., before your
presentation really starts) so the smoother and
quicker the hand-over between speakers, the
better.
When you put the memory stick into the USB port
you should get the dialogue box above select
Windows Explorer as above then click OK
9then suggest from Windows Explorer you drag and
drop a copy of your presentation onto the Room
PC desktop
10as there will be several presentations on the
desktop, suggest you use your surname for the
filename e.g., riley.ppt Check it is opening OK
in PowerPoint then close it down.
