SIKH HISTORY
  • Sikhism started when a man called Guru Nanak said
    that people have equal rights.Guru stands for
    teacher.
  • Sikh religion began in the 15th century.
  • Altogether there are ten Gurus.

SIKH BELIEFS
  • Sikhs believe that the one God is almighty.
  • They think that humans are special and unique.
  • Although Gurus believe in the Sikh faith,
    everyone can benefit from it.
  • Gurus were extremely important. For they brought
    God to peoples lives.Without them Sikhs would be
    sinners.

THE GURDWARA!
  • .All the Gurdwaras or Sikh meeting places, have
    a Langar.
  • In the Langar (the kitchen) they will prepare
    food, This shows useful work
  • Mentally, the Sikhs must learn the Guru Granth
    Sahib by heart, then they can discuss knowledge.
  • Materially, Sikhs give 10 of their earn to the
    charity

SIKH FAMILY LIFE
  • When a baby is at a naming ceremony the priest
    chooses the babys name by opening at random from
    the bible.
  • If the priest says, may God bless this child
    the name could be Mohammed.
  • Soon when that child has the age of seven, it
    should begin to obey the Sikhs rules
  • Listen to the holy names, then the evil names
    would be destroyed in that person life
  • Live a normal, not too much fun to distract you
    from God.
  • Always give to the needy whatever you have to the
    needy whatever you can spare
  • Treat both gender equally.

  • Sikhs are very lucky because they are supported
    by family and friends.
  • Like us, girls are required to achieve the same
    as boys

THE GURU GRANTH SAHIB
  • The Guru Granth Sahib is the holy book
  • The holy book is very highly respected
  • The Rumalla is the leather cloth which covers the
    Guru Granth Sahib when not being used.

The five ks
  • The Sikhs still have other rules to follow. The
    Guru Gobind Singh brought up the idea. For
    example, they have to wear
  • The Kesh is the hair. They must not cut their
    hair as a sign of respect.
  • The Kanga is a small comb.This is made to keep
    their hair clean and tidy. It shows true
    obedience.
  • The Kanga or comb brushes away disgusting
    thoughts..
  • The Kara is a metal bangle worn on the wrist, to
    show responsibility.
  • The following two are a sign of warriors the
    Kaccha is white short.s It shows spiritual
    freedom. the
    Kirpan is a small dagger.s
