How to prepare for Cheerleading Tryouts!!

• Tryouts are coming up for many schools for next
  year. It doesnt matter if you have lots of
  cheerleading experience or are just a beginner,
  everyone deserves a chance to try out for
  cheerleading! Here are some tips to help you
  through this great experience.

Start Early

• Dont Procrastinate!
• Start stretching months in advance
• Find out when the first meeting is going to be
  held
• Find a tumbling class in your area and attend
  regularly
• Start a rigid "training program" a few months in
  advance in order to be physically prepared for
  tryouts

Get informed

• Practice times?
• Financial obligations?
• GPA requirements?
• Leadership roles?
• Cheerleading Camp?
• All of these things are important to get and stay
  informed about.

Be Unique!

• Be original with your cheer
• Prepare an entrance and exit to make a positive
  first and last impression.
• Don't always smile the same frozen smile...add
  some personality to it.
• Stand out, you have to show them something unique
  about yourself

Voice

• Be loud
• Work on proper voice technique
• Do not yell or scream, instead project
• Keep the diction crisp, clear and full of energy
• Don't sing the words
• Emphasize primary words

Practice at Home

• Write down the cheers so you can remember them
  when you get home
• Take a cassette tape to record the dance music
• Watch yourself in front of the mirror
• Have your family and friends watch so that you
  are ready for an audience

SECRETS!!!!

• Dont let the advisors know that you are nervous!
• Look like a cheerleader! Wear your school colors!
• Dont be a sore loser!!
• Never give up!
• SMILE!!!
