39 Volume 1, August 2009
From The Chairmans Desk
It gives me immense
pleasure and pride in introducing the inaugural
issue of CC Connect our newsletter. This is
an initiative on our part in the midst of the
various deadlines and the mundane daily tasks, to
constructively do something about the necessity
to bond and stay connected despite being
geographically scattered. On the 16th of July
2009, we commemorated 13 years of our
incorporation. This period has witnessed immense
growth and profitability for the company together
with contributing to the economic progress of the
nation and tremendous value to peoples lives. In
the last year, we have witnessed a period of
economic turbulence and uncertainty, amidst which
the commitment and hard work put in by the CC
Family, has led us to successfully overcoming the
challenges and continuing on our growth path.
We believe in the human spirit that forever
seeks a future marked by improvement and
innovation. We believe that CC Connect is a
step towards this belief which will enable each
member of the CCs Family to share knowledge,
stay connected and learn from each others
experiences. Chairman

43STRAIGHT TALK WITH CFO
Development of economic and social infrastructure
in India has taken centre stage following the
global financial crisis and the resulting
economic downturn. The government of the day has
planned massive investments in the infrastructure
sector. These investments will throw up many
opportunities. While we stand to benefit from
these opportunities there will be issues of
managing and financing these projects. It is
important for us to understand where CC fits
into the picture. The company is growing at a
compounded rate of around 55 since inception.
This growth rate will propel us to cross the Rs
1000 crore mark and beyond in the coming year.
Managing growth at these levels will throw up
many challenges. Cost control is another area
needing attention. In a growth phase there is
tendency to overlook many issues. Expenditures
have to be classified into controllable and
uncontrollable. Those that need to be controlled
must be done. Efficiencies need to improve in
line with our growth. Our company is at an
inflexion point today. The pending order book is
in excess of Rs 3000 crores which gives an idea
of the things to come. However the fun lies in
executing this order book within time and cost
lines. For this to happen all the departments of
the company have to work in tandem. It is this
synchronized effort of all that will take the
company to the next level. Shri Tapash Majumdar
