  • WHAT IS AVAILABLE?
  • The International School Award is now available
    with
  • three different categories, allowing schools to
    build
  • towards the Award. The three categories
  • are as follows
  • Foundation for schools beginning international
    work.
  • Intermediate for schools that are beginning to
    work with an international partner school
  • Full International School Award for schools
    that have developed an integrated international
    ethos.

  • FOUNDATION INTRODUCING INTERNATIONALISM
  • What you should be doing
  • An international audit of your current
    international activities
  • Writing a basic international policy
  • Assigning an International Coordinator/Committee
  • Signing up on the Global Gateway to find an
    international partner school
  • The evidence you have to provide us with
  • online submission of letter of intent to
    internationalism in your school
  • Details of a few completed/started international
    activities (optional)
  • You submit this evidence via our online form
    (www.globalgateway.org/isa)
  • You will get the results of your application
    within one month

  • INTERMEDIATE DEVELOPING INTERNATIONALISM
  • What you should be doing
  • Up-to-date international audit
  • Finalising your International Policy thinking
    about aligning it with your School Development
    Plan
  • Finalising the International Coordinator/Committee
    job description
  • The evidence you have to provide us with
  • Details of at least one international partner
    school you collaborate with
  • Online details of three completed/started
    curricular activities involving approximately 50
    of pupils from across the school
  • You submit this evidence via our online form
    (www.globalgateway.org/isa)
  • You will get the results of your application
    within one month

  • FULL INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL AWARD
  • What you should have in place
  • A finalised international policy within the
    school development plan
  • A finalised job description for your
    international coordinator/committee
  • At least 7 curricular international activities
    planned for upcoming academic year
  • At least 75 of pupils across the school involved
  • A partnership with one or more schools in another
    country/ies, involved in collaborative work

  • What you should need to do
  • Check over your International Policy and
    International Coordinators job description
  • Submit an online action plan by the next deadline
  • List your international partner schools
  • List 7 curricular international activities over
    the next academic year with brief aims outcomes
  • Remember to list involved partner schools,
    subjects student numbers in each activity

  • FULL INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL AWARD
  • An adjudication panel will assess your online
    application you will receive your results
    within a month of the deadline closing with
    feedback.
  • Application successful? Congratulations! Now you
    must collect evidence guidance will be given.
  • Portfolio of evidence submitted at end of
    academic year (July 2008).
  • Portfolios are assessed results by end of
    August.

  • HOW TO DO AN INTERNATIONAL AUDIT
  • This will help you to identify where your school
    is in terms
  • of international work, and allows you to better
    choose
  • which category to apply for.
  • Use the guidance when completing the audit
  • Try to involve the whole school in the process to
    get the most accurate picture of the range of
    activity
  • You can now download guidance and application
    forms from www.globalgateway.org/isa

  • CHOOSING AN INTERNATIONAL COORDINATOR
  • The international coordinator can be the
    headteacher or a member
  • of staff in your school. Some tasks might
    involve
  • Having overall responsibility for applying for
    the International School Award and act as a point
    of contact
  • Facilitating good internal and external
    communication about international activities and
    share best practice
  • Evaluating the impact of international activities
  • Maximising school involvement in international
    learning opportunities
  • To help colleagues develop the use of
    international themes for cross-phase transition
    and cross-curricular projects.
