• The amount of precipitation changes in time. Not
  only is important how much water fall but also
  how it falls.

Rainfall patterns. Is pattern definite by the
total precipitation or by how it falls?
Global climate change The climate all over the
planet is changing. It is a cause by a
combination of phenomena such Greenhouse effect,
deforestation, global warming, etc. Many people
are studying it and a lot of money is spent on
it!!

• It is the amount of fallen water over a period of
  time.
• i Amount of water/ time
• i cm/sec or inch/sec
• It is a speed but instated of distance we have
  amount of water!

How do we measure the amount of water?

• By a rain gage
• which only a container where the rain is
  collected a the height of the water level is the
  amount of precipitation

• If 10 cm fall in 15 minutes, so
• i 10/15 0.67 cm/minute
• We know 15 minutes are equal to 0.25 hr so i
  becomes i 10/0.25 40 cm/hr.

  the same in both examples, what changed is the
  UNITS!
