Biomedical Applications of Fluorescent

Nanocolloids of core-shell architecture, termed
Molecular DotsTM (MDs), exhibit properties
attractive to a range of biomedical applications.
These nanocomposite particles can be used to
encapsulate a range of bioactive molecules for a
broad range of functions. Current nanocolloids
provide targeted and extended-release delivery of
insoluble or unstable therapeutic agents, as well
as long-term emission of fluorescent dyes for
high resolution bioimaging procedures. Shown is a
targeted drug delivery scheme, polymer coatings
with MDs on heart stints, and the range of
available fluorescent dyes for imaging.
