There are several ways in which road network can be deficient and hence lead to potential safety problems. Highlighting geometric deficiencies is an important exercise because it identifies road sections that are potentially a safety problem, rather than just revealing sections that have previously had safety problem (using traditional crash analysis). We are now able to offer the service, which will help full to identify the accident risk locations and the main reasons for the accident along your highway road network. This study will help to assist effective and efficient network maintenance and management.
Compaction of granular pavements using compaction equipment induces high stresses and strains in the materials being compacted. The distributions of these stresses are dependent on the properties of the compaction plant as well as the mechanical properties of the granular materials. The stresses help compact the granular materials at certain depths, but could also loosen the materials at some locations. Understanding of this micro behaviour of the granular materials is fundamental to improving the performance of granular pavements, and understanding and avoiding problems such as early rutting. The purpose of our investigations is to understand where, when and how the loosening may be happening, and consider measures that avoid this. To minimize early rutting, an innovative approach such as pre-stressing granular material will be tested.
